To advance this cause, I am a member of the Greater Seattle Business Association, the National Association of Gay & Lesbian Real Estate Professionals, and the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance.

The goal of the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance has the goal of addressing the housing needs of the LGBTQ+ community. Diversity, equity, and inclusion is their priority. The law still allows discrimination against LGBTQ+ people in 27 states, and federal fair housing laws do not include sexual orientation or gender identity as protected classes. This causes barriers to homeownership.

Washington REALTORS has taken up the cause to raise awareness as well and has created the Diversity-Equity-Inclusion committee which I am proud to serve on. According to Washington REALTORS, “Our association is an acknowledged national leader in developing programs and policies to increase access to homeownership.” Our committee’s work is focused on promoting housing rights for all.
